Palliative care

Dementia is a life-limiting condition, yet palliative care remains inconsistently integrated across dementia care pathways.

This first Research Centre for Palliative Care, Death & Dying (RePaDD) seminar of 2026 brings together leading researchers to explore what we know, what works, and where the gaps remain.

Each presentation will be followed by a short Q&A session, with opportunities for audience discussion and reflection.

This seminar will be relevant for researchers, clinicians, policy makers, and anyone interested in improving end-of-life care for people living with dementia and their families.

Speakers

  • Dr Lenore de la Perrelle - Flinders University: The case for palliative dementia care: policy context, current evidence and research priorities.
  • Associate Professor Kirsten Moore - Research & Evaluation Manager, Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA): Supporting informal caregivers at the end of life: what improves quality of life and where evidence is still needed.
  • Dr Zoi Triandafilidis - Research Fellow, University of New South Wales: Developing integrated models of dementia and palliative care through co-design, with a focus on health equity, service access, and translating evidence into practice.
